Scribe and compensatory time

COMPENSATORY TIME & SCRIBE FACILITY: (1) Compensatory Time: All PwBD candidates with benchmark disabilities (40% or more) are entitled to compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour (total 60 minutes extra for the 3-hour paper) whether they avail the facility of a scribe or not. (2) Scribe Facility: Candidates with blindness, locomotor disability (both arms affected), or cerebral palsy are automatically eligible. Others can request upon producing a certificate of writing limitation. Candidates can bring their own scribe (meeting criteria one step below graduation qualification and carrying an undertaking) or request NTA to provide one during form filling. (3) Concessional Fee: PwBD candidates pay the highly concessional lowest fee tier of Rs. 325 (compared to Rs. 1150 for General).

Last year cut-off analysis

UGC NET is qualifying — there is no marks cut-off list. The figures below are the qualifying thresholds for the JRF and Assistant Professor awards (percentage of aggregate of Paper 1 plus Paper 2). PwBD has a relaxed qualifying percentage. In Assistant Professor (qualifying %) 2025, general closed at 40, O B C at 35, S C at 35, and the Visually Impaired cut-off at 35. The VI cut-off was about 5 marks below general, because VI candidates compete on a separate horizontal list. Top 6 percent of candidates qualify; the percentages shown are the minimum aggregate to be considered.
