SSC Stenographer 2026 application window is now closed. Candidates who applied should monitor ssc.gov.in for correction-window, admit-card, city-intimation, vacancy, and scribe/skill-test instructions. CBT is listed for August–September 2026 in the SSC 2026-27 calendar.
2. Posts and What They Involve
Stenographer Grade C and Grade D
VI: Limited
Central government ministries and departments · Grade C: Level 6; Grade D: Level 4
Stenographer posts requiring shorthand dictation and transcription. Office-based, but the skill test is shorthand-centred.
VI note: The Skill Test is a shorthand dictation-and-transcription test. SSC provides specific accommodation for VI candidates and for those who cannot operate a keyboard — confirm the accommodation for your case before relying on these posts.
3. Vacancies — General, PwBD and VI
Total: 731 posts total (Grade C + Grade D combined). Post-wise vacancy table and PwBD vacancy breakdown to be published on ssc.gov.in.
VI / PwBD: 4% horizontal PwBD reservation mandated by RPwD Act 2016. Post-wise VI/LV vacancy count will be in the detailed vacancy table published by SSC on ssc.gov.in. Check ssc.gov.in for the vacancy breakdown PDF after notification. Steno Skill Test has specific accommodations for VI/upper limb impairment candidates.
