PwBD candidates may arrange their own scribe (OTR + Aadhaar authentication) or request one from the Commission; the Commission steps in only if the own scribe is unavailable or unauthenticated. Compensatory time of 20 minutes/hour applies regardless of scribe use. PwBD candidates are fully exempt from the ₹100 application fee. A confirmed notice dated 20 April 2026 cancelled 188 vacancies at the Geological Survey of India; an unverified secondary-source claim of a further '+104 DRDO vacancies' (net 2,919) could not be confirmed against any official SSC document and is not reflected here.

SCRIBE ELIGIBILITY & RULES (Extracted from Official SSC Notice, Para 9): 1. Scribe Source: Candidate's own scribe (OTR + Aadhaar-authenticated) is the default; Commission-provided scribe/assistive tech only if the own scribe is unavailable, unauthenticated, or absent on exam day. 2. Restrictions: Scribe may not assist more than one candidate or be a candidate in the same exam; must not be on SSC's debarred list. 3. Extra Time: 20 minutes per hour compensatory time, given even to eligible candidates who don't use a scribe. 4. Fee: PwBD candidates are fully exempt from the ₹100 application fee. 5. Exam-week update: a notice dated 8 September 2026 required a fresh OTR + Aadhaar-authenticated scribe registration ahead of this cycle's CBT (registrations from before 5 November 2025 were voided).
