Scribe and compensatory time

Scribe is candidate-arranged by default (own scribe, registered via OTR + Aadhaar authentication); the Commission provides a scribe only as fallback if the candidate declines an own scribe or the registered scribe doesn't show up. Compensatory time is 20 min/hour, given even to eligible candidates who don't use a scribe. Per the notification's own disability-suitability table, VI (blind/low vision) candidates are suitable for MTS but are NOT listed as suitable for Havaldar (which requires 'Seeing' as a functional requirement); Havaldar suitability is limited to HH and non-neurological locomotor categories.

Step by step: what to do now

SCRIBE ELIGIBILITY & RULES (per SSC's 2025 MTS & Havaldar Notice; verify against a fresh notice if a distinct 2026 cycle is ever confirmed): 1. Scribe Source: Candidate's own choice by default — own scribe (OTR + Aadhaar-authenticated) or Commission-provided, selected in the online application. 2. Restriction: Scribe cannot be a candidate in the same exam, and cannot scribe for more than one candidate in the same exam. 3. Qualification: Scribe's qualification must be one step below the candidate's (no fixed numeric cutoff stated in the notice). 4. Fallback: Commission provides a scribe only if the candidate declines an own scribe, or the registered own scribe fails to appear. 5. Extra Time: 20 minutes per hour of CBT, given even to eligible candidates who don't use a scribe. 6. Post Suitability (per notice's own table): VI/blind/low-vision candidates are suitable for MTS but NOT listed as suitable for Havaldar (Seeing is a functional requirement); Havaldar suitability covers only HH and non-neurological locomotor disabilities.
