Lower Division Clerk (LDC) / Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA)

Clerical and secretariat work — file handling, data entry, correspondence. Office-based and the most VI-accessible CHSL post.
VI note: Computer-based office work; SSC-provided scribe and 20-minutes-per-hour compensatory time.
Data Entry Operator (DEO)
VI: LimitedCentral government departments · Level 4 to 5
Data entry roles with a typing/data-entry speed requirement.
VI note: A keyboard speed (DEST) requirement applies; check whether the DEO skill test suits your case before opting for these posts.
Total: 3,000+ posts expected (exact departmental count to be confirmed in the vacancy PDF on ssc.gov.in). Previous cycle (2025) had 3,712 vacancies.
VI / PwBD: 4% horizontal PwBD reservation applies. VI/LV vacancy count is part of the post-wise PwBD vacancy table published separately by SSC on ssc.gov.in. LDC/JSA posts are generally suitable for VI candidates. Check the vacancy table PDF on ssc.gov.in for post-wise PwBD suitability.

Duration: Module-wise; compensatory time on each timed module
Total: 450 marks · Minus 1 mark per wrong objective answer
