In detail

The Staff Selection Commission ran the CGL 2026 cycle with a massive 12,256 vacancies. Visually Impaired candidates get a 1% horizontal reservation across posts (approx. 122 vacancies combined for blindness and low vision, within the overall 4% PwBD quota). The application window closed on 22 June 2026 and Tier 1 is expected in August–September — applied candidates should keep their disability certificate and scribe/compensatory-time request safe and watch ssc.gov.in for the admit card. The latest scribe rules: (1) Scribe Age: any candidate-arranged scribe must be 18 or older. (2) Scribe Qualification: one step below graduation — the scribe must NOT be a graduate (12th pass or below) and cannot be a relative or coaching associate. (3) SSC-Provided Scribe: under the August 2025 DEPwD guidelines, SSC now directly provides scribes for CBTs; candidate-arranged ones need prior OTR registration and approval. Always opt for the 20-minutes-per-hour compensatory time.
