SSC CGL 2026 (12,256 vacancies) is now closed — the application window ended on 22 June 2026. Applied VI and PwBD candidates should keep their submitted form, disability certificate and scribe/compensatory-time request safe, and watch ssc.gov.in for the Tier 1 admit card. Assistant Audit Officer / Assistant Accounts Officer

The highest-paid Group B gazetted post in CGL. Desk-based audit and accounts work in government offices — fully computer-based and well suited to screen-reader users.
VI note: Office-based audit role; among the best CGL posts for VI candidates.
Assistant Section Officer
VI: SuitableCentral Secretariat, Ministries, AFHQ · Level 7 — ₹44,900 to 1,42,400
File handling, noting and drafting in central ministries. Reading and writing intensive — done on computers, so accessible with a screen reader.
Inspector (Income Tax) / Inspector (CBIC)
VI: LimitedCBDT / CBIC · Level 7 — ₹44,900 to 1,42,400
Assessment and office work in the tax departments. Income Tax Inspector is largely desk-based; some CBIC inspector roles have field components — check post-wise VI suitability.

Junior Statistical Officer (JSO)
VI: SuitableMinistry of Statistics (MoSPI) · Level 6 — ₹35,400 to 1,12,400
Statistical data work. Requires a Tier 2 Statistics paper (Paper 2). Strong fit for candidates comfortable with data and maths.
Auditor / Accountant / Tax Assistant / Upper Division Clerk
VI: SuitableCGDA, CGA, CBIC, various · Level 4 to 5 — ₹25,500 to 92,300
Clerical and accounting posts across departments. Computer-based office work — broadly suitable for VI and low-vision candidates.
Total: 12,256 vacancies announced in the 21 May 2026 notification. PwBD breakdown in the notification annexure.
VI / PwBD: 1% horizontal reservation (approx. 122 vacancies specifically reserved for Visually Impaired / Blindness and Low Vision candidates combined out of the 12,256 total, within the overall 4% PwBD reservation).
Tier 1 (CBT)
Computer Based Test — objective, screen-reader unfriendly interface so a scribe usually reads
Duration: 60 minutes; 80 minutes with 20-minutes-per-hour compensatory time
Total: 200 marks · Minus 0.50 mark for each wrong answer
Qualifying-cum-ranking stage. All four sections are merit-counting.
Tier 2 (CBT)
Computer Based Test across modules, including a Data Entry Speed Test
Duration: Module-wise; compensatory time applies to each timed module
Total: 450 marks · Minus 1 mark per wrong answer in the objective papers
Paper 1 is for all posts; Paper 2 (Statistics) only for Junior Statistical Officer. The DEST / typing module has separate accommodation for VI candidates — verify in the notice.
