1. Exam Overview

RBI Grade B 2026 Phase 1 is done; Phase 2 follows on 25 July 2026. Shortlisted VI candidates should re-register their scribe arrangement for the descriptive Phase 2 papers and practise dictating long answers. This page is a full preparation guide.

2. Posts and What They Involve

Manager (Grade B) — General (DR)

VI: Suitable

Reserve Bank of India · Officer Grade B — basic ~₹55,200; CTC ~₹18–20 lakh per year

A direct-recruit officer role at the central bank, working on policy, regulation, supervision and administration. Among the most prestigious officer jobs in India.

VI note: Office and policy work; scribe and 20-minutes-per-hour compensatory time. One VI post is reserved under PwBD Category A.

Manager (Grade B) — DEPR / DSIM

VI: Suitable

Reserve Bank of India · Officer Grade B

Specialist streams — Economic Policy and Research (DEPR) and Statistics and Information Management (DSIM). Require a relevant postgraduate degree.

3. Vacancies — General, PwBD and VI

Total: 60 posts total. General (DR): 40 | DEPR (Economic Policy and Research): 10 | DSIM (Statistics and Information Management): 10.

VI / PwBD: 1 post reserved under PwBD Category A (Blindness and Low Vision combined). Total PwBD: 3 posts — Category A (VI): 1, Category C (Locomotor disability): 1, Category D (Autism/intellectual/learning/mental illness): 1. PwBD candidates are eligible for horizontal reservation across UR/OBC/SC/ST categories.

4. Exam Structure and Pattern

Phase 1 (Preliminary)

Online objective CBT

Duration: 120 minutes; with compensatory time added

Duration: Three papers of 90–120 minutes each

Total: 300 marks · Minus 0.25 on the objective portions

A mix of objective and descriptive. DEPR/DSIM have their own specialist papers.

    Final merit: Phase 2 plus interview.
